But not everyone feels comfortable sweating it out in front of dozens of strangers. At the same time, in recent years the number of unusual places to enjoy a sauna has grown – whether on the roof of the National Theatre, right on the river, or even in a caravan. Staying on the Vltava but moving closer to the center – on Rašínovo nábřeží near the railway bridge you’ll find the Avoid boat, where you can sweat it out in winter with beautiful views of Prague Castle. For one of the most unusual sauna experiences in Prague, head to Štvanice Island – here you’ll find a former military caravan turned into a sauna. Inside you’re greeted by a wood-burning stove with crackling logs, outside there’s an ice-cold tub and showers. For the bold, there’s always the option of cooling off in the Vltava. A relaxation room, showers and facilities are available in the adjacent building (so bring a towel and flip-flops). You can book a single spot or reserve the entire caravan for up to seven friends.
